Bluesy-pop singer ZZ Ward has added more concerts onto her already busy 2018 tour calendar. The young singer just wrapped up her winter run across North America back on March 11, which had taken Ward around the country for 25 shows starting back on Jan. 30. Ward’s upcoming schedule now has her set to make appearances at smaller music festivals in Colorado, Pennsylvania, Virginia and California, in addition to six of her own headlining shows in Texas and the midwest throughout the spring and summer.
Ward’s headlining shows will start out with a trio of gigs in America’s heartland later this spring, including a stop at Trees in Dallas on May 21, and Kansas City’s The Truman on July 16. She’s also set to appear at notable events including the Ride Festival in picturesque Telluride, Colo. in mid-July, followed by an appearance at the jam-heavy Peach Festival in the Pennsylvania mountains just a few days later.
The 31-year-old musician, whose real name is Zsuzsanna Ward, released her second full-length studio album last June with The Storm. The release helped to further establish Ward’s artistic reputation outside of just the indie-pop and bluesy-rock realm. The 11-track album featured guest appearances by Fitz and The Tantrums’ Mike "Fitz" Fitzpatrick, and soulful blues guitarist Gary Clark Jr.
“I feel like people were really accepting of me being who I was and trying to represent the blues in a new way, and I think that gave me the confidence to dive in even deeper on the new album,” Ward said of The Storm in an interview with AXS last summer. “I played a lot of shows, I think over 350 shows and a lot of festivals, and really enjoyed getting out there on the road and meeting my fans. Those are things I learned from the first album.”
